Johnny Otis - Willie Did The Cha Cha (G the P tweak)
Johnny Otis in action

It’s about time I posted up another little edit (tweak) of mine. This little ditty is on the flipside of my Willie and The Hand Jive (by Johnny Otis) 7″ and it got played a lot down at Get Involved. All I’ve done is extend the percussive intro - to make it even more fun to drop into a set: get your maracas and cowbell at the ready!

Shing-A-Ling Podcast No. 2

Si Cheeba has prepared the 2nd Shing-A-Ling podcast for your delectation - and it’s a beauty. Mr Cheeba takes you back to a 60’s soul food café where the spicy New York Latin Soul Boogaloo ribs and down-home grits’n'gravy Rhythm & Blues chops are served with a side-order of Jamaican Ska and hot dancefloor jazz sauce on the side - all washed down with the tropical flavour of Brazilian groove juice. Welcome to the party! It’s a hip-shaking, lip-smacking Shing-A-Ling feast - which you can stream to your desktop, download, or you can subscribe to our podcasts in iTunes or just your regular RSS reader.

Shing-A-Ling! Launch party

Shing-A-Ling! launch poster

This Friday night we’ll be officially launching our new Shing-A-Ling night at the Smithfield Tavern in London. I say “we” because Shing-A-Ling is the collaborative efforts of a group of vinyl-hoarding DJs of which I’m just one: Dean Chalkley (Shake!), Miss Red (Shuffle Off To Buffalo), Si Cheeba (Hip Drop / Shake!), DJ Paolo and G the P (that’s me) - are the main protagonists – and we will, no doubt, invite friends to DJ / party with us along the way as Shing-A-Ling is now happening EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT.

We’ll be spinning a jumped up blend of Rhythm’n'Blues, Ska, Soul and Rock’n'Roll (and whatever else we fancy) with the aim of keeping hips-a-twisting and faces smiling. Join us for the launch party this friday - free entry!

Look us up on facebook and on myspace for regular updates and irregular downloads.

Big thanks to Alex Spiro (No Brow) for the awesome launch party poster artwork
